| Dear Friend of
Tanako, Each summer, a group of young adults
devotes their time to Camp Tanako in service. They are the essential
staff who maintain Tanako as a place for children and youth to
experience the Holy Spirit move in their lives as they develop
skills to become leaders in their churches and communities.
It is easy to understand that a camper would have a life-changing
experience at camp. We hear about them all the time…but did you
know, in the two months they are at Tanako, camp staff also feel the
Holy Spirit and hear God’s call for their lives? It would take pages
to list the accomplishments of former Tanako staff members as
Christian leaders in their communities—here in Arkansas and spanning
the globe. The ministry of Camp Tanako has grown
to include conferences and retreats held throughout the year. Staff
members assist with Christian hospitality, providing these groups
with the resources they need to complete their goals of sanctuary,
community, and spiritual development. Currently,
these dedicated staff are housed in the same cabins as the first
Tanako staff of 1948. While these cabins have stood the test of time
(and college kids), they are no longer able to support the staff’s
needs. The cabins weren’t made to house staff in non-summer months,
or to hold the number of staff Tanako now requires to operate.
This summer, Tanako breaks ground on a new staff lodge. Located in
the center of camp, it will accommodate the staff year-round. It
will also serve as a visible and permanent memorial to Terry Everitt
and his 33 years of building Camp Tanako and its ministry.
As a friend of Tanako, you are aware of the power of the ministry
Tanako provides for the campers and guests that visit each year. I
am asking you to acknowledge the importance of the young people that
work to keep that mission alive each day.
Please donate to the Everitt Staff Lodge today. |
