Overnight Camp

Since 1948, Camp Tanako has welcomed campers to experience Christ's love and power. During our 10 weeks of programing, we will host over 1500 children! The 2021 theme is CREATION SPEAKS! In the beginning, God created. God is still creating now. Daily Bible studies, activities, and worship will lead the camper to experience all of creation and our responsibility as caretakers

​Mini-Camp is a perfect chance for young elementary campers to try their first overnight experience. This 2-night / 3-day camp is designed for rising 1st-3rd graders. From the time they arrive until they are picked up, there is a whirlwind of camp activities, fun, and new things to try that help them develop and build self-confidence. And most importantly, camp gives children time to experience God through nature, worship together, and live in community with one another. Campers will build life-long friendships in a community focused on Christ.
Discovery

This 4 day / 3 night camp is for campers going into 1st-4th grades and ready to try a few more nights at camp. Discovery Camp gives campers the chance to stretch their independence and live in a community of peers, and try out some new camp activities. Each day campers will participate in worship; games; large group; small group time with this year’s curriculum, Creation Speaks; recreation activities, such as archery, arts and crafts, nature hikes, gaga ball, and more; and community living skills. Campers will be grouped by age in cabins and family/small groups, and will be in the care of our friendly and highly trained counselors. With this age group, we maintain a ratio of six campers per counselor.
Elementary

We are opening up more opportunities for elementary-age kids to experience camp. This 6 day / 5 night camp is for campers who are going into 3rd-6th grades. We now have a high ropes challenge course: you won’t want to miss that! Campers will be able to scale the climbing wall and zip line back to Earth. We are also introducing our new outpost camp. On Wednesday night, those who register for the camp-out experience will have the opportunity to cook two gourmet meals (maybe chicken fajitas for dinner and beignets for breakfast) over a camp fire and spend the night in our new hammock village. And of course, we have archery, kayaking, arts and crafts, capture the flag, fishing, swimming, hiking, gaga, and all your other favorite camp activities!
Jr. High

These 5 day / 5 night camps are for those who are going into 7th – 9th grades.  Jr. High campers will be able to participate in our full high ropes challenge course. Scale the climbing wall, test your courage on the elements, and rappel or ride the zip line back to Earth! You’ll also have the opportunity to register for a campout experience called Outpost Tanako. You’ll get to spend the night in our hammock village and learn how to cook gourmet meals over a campfire. And of course, you can enjoy all your favorite camp activities such as kayaking, fishing, swimming, archery, hiking, capture the flag, gaga, and much more!

Come enjoy a 5 day / 4 night week at camp with all the friends you’ve made here over the years. If you’ve never been to camp before, don’t let that discourage you. Old friends welcome new friends, so here’s your chance to meet some really cool people worthy of life-long friendships. This camp is geared for rising 9th- 12th graders. We now have a high ropes challenge course. Scale the climbing wall, challenge yourself on the four elements, and rappel or zip back down to earth! And of course you can enjoy your other favorite camp activities like kayaking, hiking, fishing, swimming, gaga ball, and more. 
MAD Camp

MAD-Music, Art, and Drama, one of Tanako’s most cherished camps, this classic camp for rising 7th – 12th graders is back and better than ever! Throughout the 7 day/ 6 night week, campers will be learning various tricks of the trade to help enhance the worship experience at their own churches. We’ll be going over special effects, technology, drama, acting, makeup, and music with the week culminating in an entertaining production! As a MAD camper, you’ll get to audition, build sets, and write original musical numbers. Then, you’ll rehearse and put on a final performance for friends, family, and the Tanako staff. Come to MAD camp and express your creativity while making friends with other creative-minded campers like you.
Fishing Camp

Love the outdoors? Fishing? Rising 3rd-7th graders, Come see how Camp Tanako can make you a better fisherman as we learn the basics of safety, knot-tying, casting, and catch-and-release. Throughout the the camp, we will be discussing becoming not only great anglers, but also fishers of men! Campers must bring their own rod and reel with new line. Please, no toy rods. Hooks, floats, tackle, and bait are provided.
Family Camp

​Join us for this low-key, family focused introduction to camping at Tanako. Children of all ages and their families are invited for an overnight stay complete with arts & crafts, singing, games, a campfire, hiking, and of course, experiencing the presence of God in this beautiful place. A separate registration form is needed for each family member, but the cost includes the whole family. Sleeping arrangements will be by gender.
Bike Camp

​New in 2021, we are bringing back Bike Camp! Rising 3rd-12th graders are welcome to join us as we take a deep dive in with a local bike shop of taking care of your equipment, learn new skills, and care for the environment. Campers must bring their own bike or let the office know if you need to borrow one. And no camp would be complete with out traditional camp activities like 
Confirmation Camp​

Confirmation Camp is designed to serve the needs of churches and confirmation programs of all sizes by complementing long-term confirmation curriculum or serving as a stand-alone event for smaller confirmation classes. In addition to the topics covered during the retreat, follow-up lessons are included to solidify the confirmation experience at home churches.

Day Camp

Serving Kids in the rising grades of 1st -7th of the Hot Springs and Garland County Areas.

Camp Tanako is excited to offer a Day Camp program for families in our local mission field!  A week long program that runs for ten weeks over the summer, ideal for children who are beyond the age of the baby-sitter but are not ready to be home by themselves.  This camp is a special experience that gives your camper the opportunity to be outside playing and learning about God’s creation.
Day Camp is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am – 5:00 pm.  Day campers take part in traditional Tanako activities like archery, arts and crafts, environmental education, swimming and so much more.  Lunch and two snacks are provided by Tanako.
Each day is centered in a Christian atmosphere with opportunity for small group Bible studies.  Each week will feature a new theme and lesson from scripture to keep the day camp fresh for campers who attend multiple weeks.
Campers may be brought to camp or picked up from a designated pick up location (transportation fee) each morning and afternoon.
